Broken links can drive visitors away from your web site. Instead of checking individual links, on each page, you can use DeepTrawl to solve this issue faster and easier. The software is capable of validating countless links, on any web site, and it can highlight broken items in an HTML editor or on your browser. Additionally, it can spell check your web site, validate xhtml sequences and it lets you decide what kind of checks to perform, so you can maintain a high quality web site.

DeepTrawl is available for Windows and Mac OS X. It is distributed in an 18 MB setup package, which should not take long to download. Furthermore, you can install the software in a few moments, without going through complex options or installing prerequisite tools.

The user interface resembles a web browser, but instead of displaying a web page, it displays its links and it lets you know which ones are broken or invalid. You just need to type in the web site's address and hit the Enter key or click the Start button, on the program's toolbar. Additionally, you can select a scope, like domains and sub-domains, directories, only the start page or others.

Pages that contain broken links are listed on a separate tab. You may click various options, next to each link, if you wish to view the broken links highlighted, in the program's built-in HTML editor or on your default web browser, view additional information about a broken link or ignore it. Before you start checking a web site's broken links, you can set the program to validate links, find links to pages which download slowly, check the spelling on the target web site and much more, by clicking a series of check boxes, on a different tab.

You can save your settings as a new profile, if you wish to perform the same test at a later date. Additionally, the software allows you to schedule individual profiles. Depending on your settings, DeepTrawl will check for broken links on a specific web site, once, daily, weekly or monthly, at a specific time and date. It is also possible to configure email alerts, so you will know if there is a problem with your web site, even if you are not in front of your computer.
